The active constituent present in the Yasmin is Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol. How Yasmin works?
Yasmin birth control pill shows action by inhibiting the release of an egg (ovulation) during the gestational period. This medication causes vaginal fluid thicker to prevent sperm from getting an egg (fertilization) and modifying the lining of the uterus (womb). This action helps to prevent attachment of a fertilized egg. However a fertilized egg does not adhere to the uterus, it usually excreted out from the body.
How to use Yasmin Birth Control Pills?
Yasmin is made up of 28 pills. You should use 21 hormonal pills first for 21 consecutive days. Then you have to use non-hormonal pills for seven days to complete the dose. You are advised to administer these tablets each day at same time. After completing 28 pills you can start a new pack.
If you missed the dose of one pill you are advised to use two pills as a single dose on next day. If you missed the two dosages regimen then take two pills as a single dose in the next two consecutive dosing schedules. If you missed 3 dosing schedule or more then give up the regular dosing schedule, you have to begin fresh pack.
What are the contraindications of Yasmin Birth Control Pills?
- Do not use if you are patient of eyes, kidneys or circulation caused by diabetes; history of hormone-related cancer such as breast or uterine cancer and unusual vaginal bleeding.
- Do not use if you are oversensitive to generic Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol.

What are the Precautions of Yasmin?
- If you are more than 35 years of age then you should not use this medication
- Alcohol should not be used while taking this medication.
- You should avoid smoking while taking Yasmin.
