Ambien, generic Zolpidem is a well-known drug for inducing hypnosis and sedation. In some patients there is an imbalance of chemicals; it works by balancing those chemicals. It makes you dizzy and asleep. Zolpidem, an agonist of GABAA leads to strong hypnosis. It acts within 15 minutes of its intake. It is widely accepted drug for patients suffering from inadequate sleep.

Dosage information: a) Dose recommended: In adults, initial dose recommended in a woman is 5 mg but in men, it is 5 to 10 mg, once per day when required before you go to have a sleep. Take it orally with a good quantity of water. The dose can be maximized to 10 mg for inducing sedation.
b) Missed dose: There is no chance of missing a dose, as it is taken when required for sleep.

It is better to avoid taking this drug in case of allergies (difficulty breathing, hives, swelling of face/lips. The dose should be used according to doctors prescription. Stop taking it with alcohol, it may potentiate side effects. Patients below 18 years of age are not advised Ambien. Elders mostly suffer from insomnia, so they should use it wisely as it will cause excessive sedation.
